Find the right approach to dry or damp indoor air.

RJ Sam’s works on the indoor air quality equipment already in your home, across brands. We assess the equipment and explain compatible repair, care or replacement options.

Tell us what’s happening

Is the air too dry or too damp?

Temperature and moisture need separate consideration. Note where and when the concern changes.

Excess moisture
Review cooling operation, drainage and moisture entering the house.
Dry winter air
Review readings, air leakage and heating equipment before adding moisture.
Condensation or visible water
Leaks and damp material need attention alongside equipment work.

Before you agree

What should the plan include?

Review what the work addresses, the equipment and connections involved, and what is excluded. The proposed work and price should be clear before you approve it.

Filtration, humidity and ventilation guide
Home conditions
Review room readings, seasonal changes and relevant moisture sources.
Equipment and connections
Explain whether moisture should be added or removed and the required air, water, drain or electrical work.
Controls and access
Include settings guidance and access for filters, panels, drains and service.

What affects the work and cost?Whether the home needs moisture added or removed, air connections, controls and water/drainage access affect the work. Humidifiers and dehumidifiers serve different purposes.

Know what happens next

Before and after the work

  1. Describe how the air feels

Tell us where the air feels damp or dry. If you already have a humidity reading, you can share it; you do not need to take measurements before asking for help.

  2. Describe related conditions

Mention condensation, visible water and differences between the basement and other rooms.

  3. Learn the controls and care

Review how settings and routine care should suit the home and seasonal conditions. Review any separately priced supplies, cleaning or further work before approval.

Before you decide

Questions before deciding

Review the common questions and explore the moisture-range example with its illustrative assumptions. This unvalidated model cannot size equipment or identify a moisture source.

How does the seasonal pattern change the recommendation?

Dry winter air may lead to humidifier/control review; damp rooms in mild weather can need source correction, ventilation or dehumidification review. Measured conditions, temperature and moisture entry matter. A calculator using only area and a dampness description is not an equipment-sizing recommendation.

Does a cool house automatically have suitable humidity?

No. Temperature and moisture need separate consideration. Mention dampness even if the house reaches the cooling setpoint.

Should the setting stay the same all year?

Settings need to suit the home and seasonal conditions. Cold surfaces and outdoor weather affect condensation risk.

Can a calculator choose the equipment?

No. A rough calculation cannot establish the moisture load, installation requirements or suitable product. Equipment selection needs an assessment.
