Tell us what’s happening
What is your air conditioner doing?
Describe what you’ve noticed as best you can. If you know when it started or which rooms are affected, that helps. We’ll investigate the cause; you do not need to diagnose it.

- Warm air or weak cooling
- The fan runs but the home does not cool as expected.
- Outdoor unit will not start
- Describe what happens when you try to use it. If you have noticed a message, you can mention it; we’ll check the equipment.
- Weak airflow or ice
- Airflow and cooling operation need investigation.
- Water near the equipment
- Describe where the water appears and when you noticed it.
What happens next
Find the cause. Review the repair. Check the result.
Investigate the concern
We review airflow and refrigerant-cycle operation, fan/electrical conditions and drainage as relevant. Warm air does not automatically establish low refrigerant; the testing should explain the proposed repair.
Explain the finding and proposed work
We discuss the repair, its price and whether further investigation, a specific part or a return visit is needed.
Approve the work, then check operation
You decide whether to proceed. After the approved repair, we check operation and explain what was done. A needed part or return visit is discussed before it is arranged.
$79.95 HVAC diagnostic visit
Sign up for the Maintenance Plan and we’ll waive the $79.95 diagnostic fee.
We investigate the concern, explain the findings and quote any proposed repair before you approve the work.
Sign up for Maintenance Plan →What affects the repair price? Airflow, controls, drainage and refrigeration faults require different checks. The failed component, parts availability, equipment access and the need to address an underlying restriction affect repair work.
When there are options
Repair or replacement?
When repair may make sense
The identified fault can be addressed and the remaining equipment can serve your needs. Review the repair price and what the work will resolve.
When to compare replacement
Compare the identified repair with system condition and repair history. An isolated fault may be repairable; repeated problems or a major failure deserve a comparison with replacement.

Getting ready
Questions before your visit
Review the common questions and use the symptom checker for guidance before requesting a visit. A technician will need to diagnose the cause.
Does warm air always mean the AC needs refrigerant?
No. Airflow restrictions, fan or electrical faults and refrigerant-cycle problems can produce similar symptoms. Water near the indoor unit also calls for drainage checks. If refrigerant is proposed, ask what the testing found, whether a leak is involved and what the work will address.
What should I prepare before the visit?
Record the thermostat setting and any displayed message. Keep equipment accessible without opening panels or repeatedly resetting a tripping breaker. If you see ice, turn cooling off and ask for guidance; do not chip it away.
Can the repair be completed during the visit?
That depends on the finding, work and parts needed. We explain any specific part, further investigation or return visit with the proposed work before you approve it.
Does weak cooling mean it needs refrigerant?
Several faults can affect cooling. If refrigerant has been lost, the investigation needs to address that loss before an appropriate repair is agreed.
Have a displayed AC code?
Thermostat Code Lookup
Choose your brand and the code shown on your thermostat or controller.
Applies only to the system listed above. Codes identify a message, not the cause. Leave equipment panels closed.
