When does the hot water run out?
Write down whether hot water runs out during back-to-back showers, while several fixtures run together or even with light use. Note whether the change was sudden or has developed over time.
Tell us whether every fixture is affected or only one shower or faucet. That distinction helps separate a whole-house supply concern from something closer to one fixture.
Can your heater keep up with your household?
A storage heater holds a supply that is replenished as the unit heats more water. Tankless equipment heats flowing water and has a rated delivery capacity. Household routines therefore affect the two arrangements differently.
Adding occupants, a larger shower or more simultaneous use can change demand. A replacement should be evaluated around the busiest period rather than only the size of the old tank.
Avoid turning up the temperature as a quick fix
Raising the water-heater setting can increase scald risk and may leave a fault unresolved. Do not open heating-element compartments or adjust gas controls to investigate a loss of hot water.
If water is leaking or you see an error message, note what you can observe safely and arrange service. Do not cap a discharge pipe or disable a safety device.
What will the repair or replacement fix?
A technician can assess whether the issue involves equipment operation, household demand or another part of hot-water delivery. Ask how the finding supports the proposed repair or replacement.
RJ Sam’s works across water-heater brands. Describe the pattern as best you can; we can identify the equipment and explain the next step without asking you to diagnose it first.
